Day 72: Rochester, MN

Stop 42 / State 26: Rochester, MN

157 miles today through some extremely beautiful farmlands. It was kind of grey and rainy for the most part today but, when the sun decided to break through, the colors were unbelievable. Later in the trip, it got extremely windy. I learned recently that I was overtightening the trailer's stabilizer bar (it was actually starting to bend the hitch). With the looser bar, it seemed to handle better in the wind.

We couldn't find a "Welcome to Minnesota" sign today. The Mississippi separates Wisconsin from Minnesota. There was a ton of construction activity on the bridge over the river so we suspect that the sign was in the way and got temporarily removed. There was a welcome center on the Minnesota side of the river but trucks and trailers weren't welcome (hmph!).

The road followed the Mississippi for a short distance and Kristen got some good shots.

Our RV park is close to Rochester but not really. I would have never found any signs of the city if I hadn't gone looking for a KFC. Even then, it was still pretty rural.
