Stop 35: Greenwood, VA
Today's 114 mile jaunt took us to the Southern end of Shenandoah National Park. We're staying close to the point where Shenandoah NP's Skyline Drive becomes the Blue Ridge Parkway and continues South for another 469 miles.I mentioned yesterday that we drove (trailerless) about 50 miles down Skyline Drive. I didn't mention that, as beautiful as the views are from all of the overlooks are, after 30 or 40 of them, they kind of start to all look the same. We decided not to take the trailer down the 114 miles of Skyline Drive today.
Once we were parked, we took off down the Blue Ridge Parkway for 20 miles or so. It's very much like Skyline Drive except that it's a bit more manicured and, not being in a national park, there are a few more signs of civilization.
The next couple of nights, we'll be near The Great Smokey Mountains NP and we may explore some more of the Blue Ridge Parkway from that end (or maybe we'll check out Dollywood).
Tonight's spot in the Misty Mountain Camp Resort is right on a stream.
The stream is just beyond our trailer in this picture.
