Chicago again!
The weather was still cooperating with us today. It got down to the low 60's last night and probably made it up to 72 today. Couldn't ask for better summer weather in Chicago. We rode the train again and reached Oglilvie Station by 10:30 AM. Our plan was to visit the Shedd Aquarium. It was a very long walk. We found a section of Grant Park that wasn't closed for Lollapalooza and were able to visit the Buckingham fountain (The flow was steady the whole time - Al Bundy must not have flushed).
Skyline views from near the fountain.
We got to the aquarium and found that there was an hour wait in the ticket line. It was lunch time and we'd planned to eat inside. Another hour didn't do it for us. We decided to catch a water taxi up to the Navy Pier. This end of Lake Michigan has been experiencing some 15 foot waves since that front went through our first night here. I didn't dare stand up to take the next couple of shots so they all have some unknown people in the foreground.
After lunching at Harey Carey's Tavern, we caught another water taxi down the river to Union Station which was right next to Ogilvie Station. I say down the river but it really feels like up the river. The Chicago River used to flow into Lake Michigan. Some years ago, they made some changes so that it flows from Lake Michigan into the Mississippi. They had to add a lock at the lake end so that it didn't interfere with the natural flow of the Great Lakes.
We made it back to the trailer by about 4 PM. Kristen did some laundry while I took care of some trailer maintenance prior to our departure tomorrow.
