Day 86: Bend, OR

Stop 54: Bend, OR

Todays 130 mile hop took us across some high desert that included the Northern Great Basin and the Oregon Badlands.

Moments after setting out this morning, a deer crossed our path:

Toward the end of our trip, we realized that we were going  to be arriving too early, so we pulled off into a vista point area and killed some time, taking in the scenery and reading for a bit.

These yellow wildflowers were everywhere. In some spots, they went for as far as we could see.

We finally reached Bend. Bend is a very pretty town but its growth has apparently gotten a little bit out of control in the last 15 years or so. The traffic is incredible.

We're in 2  back-in campsites tonight. The larger one is just big enough for our trailer so they threw in the even smaller one next door to park the truck. Not exactly what we requested but it's a nice setup.

Tomorrow, we're off to Crater Lake,
