Day 82: Jackson Hole, WY

Stop 50 / State 28 (again): Jackson Hole, WY

(Actually, we've been revisiting state 28 during our visits to Yellowstone National Park the last couple of days).

We got an early start on today's 154 mile hop. The last couple of days, we've seen first-hand how much traffic there is in Yellowstone in the Summer with much of it driving very slowly and slamming on the breaks whenever they spot a squirrel. Since today's route called for us to traverse Yellowstone and Grand Teton National Parks from North to South, we were hitched up and on the road by 6:30 AM. It worked, we totally beat the traffic. We were concerned about pulling the trailer up some of the steep grades that lay on today's route but our little Colorado took them completely in stride.

No new pictures of Yellowstone though we did notice that there was quite a bit more wildlife out early in the day.

Kristen and I had both seen the Grand Tetons from a distance from the West Side but we were both unprepared for how magnificent they are up close from the East.

Here's a first look across Jackson Lake:

Leaving at 6:30 AM put us in serious jeopardy of arriving at our campsite before the previous occupants had checked out so we decided to kill some time at the Grand Teton National Park Visitors Center.

Kristen and our ride at in the Visitors Center lot:

The Tetons from the marina near the Visitors Center:

We found a restaurant near the visitors center and killed some more time having a late second breakfast (no lunch today).

After leaving the National Park, the views of the Tetons continued:

Teton's in the distance over the Snake River:

Finally, tonight's home.
